Our commitment

AMBIT Youth Ltd is committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and ethical youth work. These Professional and Ethical Standards apply to all employees, contractors, trustees, and volunteers working with or on behalf of AMBIT Youth Ltd.
​
They set out the behaviours and values we expect in order to protect children and young people, maintain public trust, and ensure professionalism in everything we do.

Standards and frameworks we follow

We align our practice with recognised national standards, including:

National Youth Agency (NYA) National Occupational Standards for Youth Work

Working towards the NYA Quality Mark for Youth Work

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, where applicable to our work and partnerships
-
Relevant professional and ethical practice standards, adapted appropriately for a youth and community context
Safeguarding, inclusion, and the wellbeing of children and young people sit at the heart of all our professional standards.

All staff, contractors, and volunteers must be able to demonstrate that they:

1. Act with integrity and authenticity
This means being honest, open, and trustworthy in all that we do, particularly when working with children, young people, families, and partners.

This includes:

Being truthful and reliable in all professional dealings

Working transparently and sharing information appropriately and safely
-
Respecting confidentiality and data protection at all times
-
Never exploiting or taking advantage of a child, young person, family member, colleague, or partner
-
Declaring and managing conflicts of interest openly
-
Not offering or accepting gifts or hospitality that could compromise professional judgement

Always acting in the best interests of children and young people

2. Provide a high standard of service
We aim to deliver safe, inclusive, and high-quality services that meet the needs of children, young people, and the communities we serve.
This includes:

Being clear about roles, responsibilities, and expectations

Working within your level of training and competence

Seeking advice, supervision, or specialist support when needed
-
Communicating clearly and accessibly with children, young people, parents, carers, and partners

Using feedback to improve services

Supporting a culture where safeguarding and quality are everyone’s responsibility

3. Act in a way that promotes trust
Everyone representing AMBIT Youth Ltd is expected to act in a way that builds confidence and trust in our organisation and in youth work as a profession.
This includes:

Acting professionally at work and in situations where you are representing AMBIT Youth

Understanding that behaviour outside of work can impact trust and reputation

Being mindful of how actions affect children, young people, colleagues, and the wider community

Doing what you say you will do and being reliable

Following both the spirit and the letter of our policies and procedures

4. Treat others with respect
We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Everyone should be treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.
This includes:

Being polite, considerate, and supportive in all interactions

Never discriminating on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion or belief, disability, or background

Being aware of cultural differences and individual needs

Creating safe and welcoming environments for all children and young people
5. Take responsibility
We expect all staff, contractors, and volunteers to be accountable for their actions and decisions.
This includes:

Acting with care, skill, and diligence

Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns promptly

Responding to complaints or concerns professionally and constructively
-
Learning from mistakes and taking steps to improve practice

Challenging poor practice and raising concerns where something does not feel right
